H1Z1 was the competition to DayZ back in the day when we were all obsessed with zombie survival games, but times have changed, and so have the tastes of various gamers. Now, the most popular trend in gaming is, of course, the battle royal genre, and so the developers of H1Z1 decided to hop on that train and they made H1Z1: Battle Royal. The open beta for this is now live, but unfortunately only for PlayStation 4 players, so if you own a PS4, be sure to check this game out.
Oh man, when will this trend die out already. It seems like everyone and their mother is making a battle royal shooter at the moment, and we barely ever see any news that is not connected to a battle royal game. The market is getting oversaturated with these titles, and that means that games like H1Z1: Battle Royal are going to be lost in the sea of games like this, as there is nothing to separate them. They all look and play pretty much the same, with Fortnite being the one that is the easier to get into and also having the building mechanic which shifts the gameplay from your typical battle royal shooter. In the game’s announcement video it says:
H1Z1 on PS4™ is designed specifically for the console and focuses exclusively on the core elements that make battle royale exciting. The game features a NEW weapon progression system, fully reworked UI, along with new weapons and gear.
