Treyarch Says Blackout Mode In Black Ops 4 Will Be “Best And Better”
There were a lot of rumors leading up to the full reveal of Call of Duty Black Ops 4, with the biggest one being that there would be a Battle Royale mode in the style of PUBG and Fortnite. Turns out, they were right, and Blackout mode has been revealed. However, Treyarch has been quick to shoot down that it’ll be a copy of those modes. They already noted that they were working on this mode before PUBG even came out on Steam, and now, they’re talking about how different it will be.
While chatting with Finder.com, game designer Matt Scronce noted this:
“We wouldn’t do this if we didn’t think we could do it best and better than everybody else. We’ve got a huge library of content, ten years of history, we’ve got the best gunplay out there, we’ve got the best movement, so we’re not too worried about it. Honestly, we’re just worried about making this damn thing as fun as possible.”
He went on to note:
“What we’re doing is going to be different. Some players will gravitate to us and people may gravitate towards other games. We’re making something that, when we play it, we have a whole lotta fun and I think we can grow out from that.”
Also in the interview, it was confirmed that there will only be one map at launch. However, that map is the size of 1500 Nuketowns, which is pretty big. What’s more, Treyarch and Activision are apparently focusing on the launch of the game and not Loot Boxes or Microtransactions, but we’ll have to see just how true that is.
While the game has been revealed, many expect Treyarch to be at E3 2018 to show the game in more depth, possibly with an on-stage demo or two to show off the game and Blackout mode.
