Tencent Has Acquired A Majority Stake In Grinding Gear Games

When a big company invests a lot of money into a development company, the players get anxious. You can’t really blame them, as these companies tend to change the way the developers make and manage their game. Now, Tencent, one of the largest companies in the entire world acquired a majority stake in Grinding Gear Games, and the players have been starting to riot in the comments section of that post. GGG answered a lot of questions on that posts that players would ask preemptively, but people still aren’t sure about all of this. Will this affect Path of Exile in a good or in a bad way? We are not sure, but we hope that the development team continues to do as they have done already with their popular action RPG.

So, what do you think, will this affect Path of Exiles? Will the game become a pay2win title because of this? Well, Grinding Gear Games said in their post that nothing of the sort will happen, and that they will continue working as they would normally. The biggest question is, will Tencent try to change Path of Exile? In their official post, GGG said this:

No. We spoke to CEOs of other companies that Tencent has invested in, and have been assured that Tencent has never tried to interfere with game design or operations outside of China. We retain full control of Path of Exile and will only make changes that we feel are best for the game.

We just have to wait a bit and then we will see if this is going to affect the game and how it develops in the future.
