Loyalty can be a beautiful thing. Knowing that someone will have your back, be there when you need them to, or even just working with you through thick and thin, it’s nice. Video game publishers really appreciate loyalty, and try to secure it when they can. This goes double for publishers like Nintendo and Sony who have a large group of 1st party developers who work solely for them. And in the case of Insomniac Games, they’re proud to be a part of Sony.
In an interview with The Telegraph, creative director Bryan Intihar, who is working on the upcoming Spider-Man game for PS4, noted that he loves all the 1st party games that Sony has been putting on the PS4 recently.
“We’ve worked with Sony for 20 plus years, right? As excited as I was to work with Marvel, I was just as excited to be working with Sony again. I am so impressed and in awe of what their first party studios do: look at Guerrilla, what they did with Horizon Zero Dawn. Obviously, Naughty Dog is in town and we have a long friendship with them. I am a gigantic God of War fan and I think what Cory Barlog and that team at Santa Monica are doing is amazing. And look at Sucker Punch and what they’re doing with their new IP.We are one piece of the juggernaut and I’m proud to be part of that juggernaut. For me we need to be at the quality and deliver at the level those other exclusive games have done.”
It’s refreshing to hear such love and loyalty from a developer, and he’s right, the PS4 has been doing a good job with exclusives as of late, as well as during its lifetime. And many are expecting the Spider-Man title from Insomniac Games to be just as good when it releases later this year.
