PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been going through a rough spot in the last few months. Despite it being very successful in its own right, it’s losing a lot of ground to its rival Fortnite. Many aren’t happy with certain things still going on in the title, including massive bugs, server issues, and the Xbox One version not going to full launch version just yet. However, the team at Bluehole are working on it. And to help ease some tensions, they’ve just released a limited time event mode.
The mode is available now and will be continuing until April 1st or 2nd depending on your timezone. The mode will feature four players on a team on the Miramar map. While that may not sound like a big change, there is a catch. This new mode introduces a new weapon in the Flare Gun. And trust us, this is one weapons you’ll definitely want to get.
As for what the Flare Gun can do, check out the description from the developer:
“Flare Gun is a special weapon that can be used to call in a care package to your location. Just aim it up, fire the flare and the airplane will drop a superior care package on that location. Only a limited number of Flare Guns will spawn in small single-story houses throughout the map (at this time only in Event Mode), but finding one is going to be worth your time!”
That’s sure to change the game in some ways, and there will be a fight to get that gun no doubt. This isn’t the first time that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has flirted with new game modes. In fact, they’re going to be getting a new event mode system. But, they don’t do it as frequently as Fornite, although, that could change. We’ll have to see what the future holds.
