Fortnite Dominates Worldwide iOS Market Within 24 Hours
When Fortnite was announced a while back, it was meant to be a game where you would build shelters against a horde of zombie invaders and then blow them up and blast them apart. And to be fair, that’s exactly what launched in 2017. However, not long after, Epic Games decided to pull a bait-and-switch and add a free Battle Royale mode very much like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds…or in some people’s eyes, exactly like PUBG. Either way, this move worked, as the games sales and player base skyrocketed.
It grew so large that Fortnite even overtook PUBG in terms of concurrent players, which is no small feat. But now, Epic Games can put another feather in their cap, but their title is blowing up on mobile.
In case you didn’t hear, the full game was being ported to mobile platforms, mainly iOS, but Android is coming. Many countries already have the game on iOS, and within the first 24 hours, it shot up to the top of those charts. Here’s the proof of that:
Now, there’s an interesting twist in this tale, mainly, the Fortnite mobile game is invite only, and so for it to top the charts with this restriction is pretty impressive. What’s more, the games that are in the same genre are getting a boost in players because they can’t play Fortnite.
And again, this is just the iOS version of the game, no doubt when the Android version comes it’ll top the Android charts in no time flat.
All in all, this proves how much the game has grown since its launch. For if it had a simultaneous launch on console and mobile, it would not have done this well. But, because of everything that’s happened since launch, the game has become renown, and everyone wants it because of that.
