PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Has Reached 5 Million Players On Xbox One
When PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out on Steam last year, it was successful in numerous ways, almost too many ways to count. With it being the hottest game of the year (especially in terms of people playing it), many wanted to capitalize on what it was doing. One such company was Microsoft, who made a deal with developer Bluehole to bring the game to their console the Xbox One. It took a while, but a preview version of the game released on the system last December.
Fast forward to today, and though it’s still a preview version of the game, there are now 5 million players on the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. That’s a staggering amount of people for a preview version on a console. To celebrate this achievement, Microsoft released a special video showing off the game and the accomplishment as well as thanking the players who made this goal a reality.
Now, of course, once the full version of the game is released on Xbox One you can expect those numbers to likely climb even higher, which is what happened on Steam when it went into its full release. But, for now, that’s still quite an accomplishment. The teams at Microsoft and Bluehole are indeed working hard to try and bring the full game to release as soon as possible. But, they’ve been getting resistance via bugs and glitches, as well as server issues, that keep delaying the release.
There are some out there who want the release of the full game to happen soon just so that another version of the game can come out. Mainly, PS4 gamers are hoping that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will come to their system eventually. But, that’s not likely to happen while the Xbox One version is still under construction. We’ll see how it all plays out.
