Geralt From The Witcher Comes To Soul Calibur VI
Soul Calibur VI was announced last year at The Game Awards, and since then, players have eagerly been awaiting news about who would be in, and who would make a surprise appearance. Well, Bandai Namco made one of those surprises known today, as Geralt of Rivia, aka Geralt from The Witcher franchise, has been added to the fighting games’ roster. To prove this, they showed off a trailer featuring him in the game, and it reveals much more than you might think.
First off, having Geralt in Soul Calibur VI is actually a brilliant move. The Witcher is a beloved RPG franchise, and many know who Geralt is. What’s more, his character and fighting style mesh perfectly in the game. As you’ll see in his reveal trailer, he mixes swordplay with magic for a nice combo of skills that will be a match to any opponent. So learn how he plays in the game, and then see what he can do in your hands.
What you’ll also see in the trailer is a tease of what’s happening in the world of Soul Calibur. Something called the “Variants” are coming, and it could explain things we’ve seen in previous trailers. In this new trailer, we see Nightmare riding a horse to do an attack, and now Geralt is coming in through the “cracks” of this universe. What could it all mean?
This plot point also opens up the possibility of other 3rd party characters coming into the game. It’s happened numerous times before. Link from Legend of Zelda, Heihachi from Tekken, Spawn from Image Comics, Darth Vader, Starkiller, and Yoda from Star Wars, all were brought in, so Geralt may not be the sole 3rd party inclusion. We’ll just have to wait and see.
There’s still no release date for Soul Calibur VI, but it is expected to arrive this year.
