There are some things you just can’t predict with video games, as sometimes random things happen that are just unexplainable. It can be a bug that mucks up the works of a video game, or it can be a developer decision that turns things on its head. For games like WWE 2K18 and NBA 2K18, players have been enjoying taking screenshots of key moments, funny events, or just epic shots, it’s a fun part of the game. However, if you have these games on the Nintendo Switch, you’re not going to be able to do that anymore.
Why? Well, we’re not exactly sure, as this removal of screenshot capabilities is being chalked up to a “new Nintendo policy”. What policy that is we have no idea. Here’s a statement from 2K confirming the change:
“Because of a new Nintendo policy that came with the 1.07 update, the screenshot function has unfortunately been removed from NBA 2K and WWE 2K games. I apologize for any inconveniences this new change might cause.”
Like we said, it’s very curious, and yet, a lot of people aren’t too broken up about this change. Sure, taking screenshots is cool, but it doesn’t affect the main game. What’s more, the Switch ports of WWE 2K18 and NBA 2K18 weren’t the best versions of the titles. In fact, WWE 2K18 was incredibly buggy at launch, prompting several major updates just to make the game playable again. As for NBA 2K18, it was one of the few games on the system (so far) that required a memory card to get all the content.
Many are hoping that as this years versions of both franchises rolls around that they’ll put more effort into them if they bring them to Switch. And possibly, the screenshot feature will be restored to the games by then.
