The Overwatch Year of the Dog event has come to an end, leading fans to speculate over what the next event will be. The popular shooter from Blizzard has a tendency to introduce limited time events every now and again, keeping things fresh and exciting. There is very few clues as to what it could be, with Blizzard having a knack for keeping things under wraps, but there is a particularly safe guess that can be made.
If you were to look at the past two previous years, there will be an event taking place next month, with an Uprising event potentially coming back. In 2017, the Uprising event saw the expansion of the lore behind the game, where Mercy, Torbjorn, Reinhardt and Tracer faced off against Null Sector omnics. This was the second horde mode to be introduced to Overwatch, and was considered a massive success. What’s more, the developers have made it known in the past that the mode would be making a return in some form or other. If you need even more of a hint, Moira and Doomfist voice lines referring to the Uprising event and Blackwatch were found in the code for the game back in 2017.
Meanwhile, game director Jeff Kaplan stated in an interview with PCGamesN that they have “some interesting plans to evolve what we’ve done in Uprising, but I’m gonna leave that a bit of a surprise right now.” So if it does come back, then you should expect to see some changes along the way.
Overwatch is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
