State of Decay 2 Release Date Announced
The news that fans of State of Decay 2 have been waiting for has finally arrived, with a release date being confirmed for the zombie-survival RPG from Undead Labs. The highly anticipated sequel will release on May 22nd, coming to Xbox One as well as Windows 10 PC through the Play Anywhere program. Also, the title will be available on that day of launch through Xbox Game Pass. A price has also been set, coming in at $29.99USD for the standard edition and $49.99USD if you fancy shelling out for the ultimate edition.
Microsoft GM of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg commented on the game’s retail price, which is lower than expected, to be fair: “Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.”
The ultimate edition, should you choose that version, will include early access for players on May 18th, as well as a free copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, plus the Independence Pack and Daybreak Pack DLCs, of which a release date is still to be revealed.
State of Decay made its mark back in June 2013, and presented a multi-million-selling zombie survival game that proved to be a massive hit. The sequel was unveiled at E3 2016, and will run on Unreal Engine 4 instead of the CryEngine used in the first title. This time around, there will be four-player co-op multiplayer to enjoy, which is something that was sorely missed in the debut outing.
