Overwatch Director Reveals Who Players Play The Most In Competitive Mode

To say people love Overwatch is an understatement. People not only love the team shooter from Blizzard, they’ve embraced it in a way that many games never get to see. It took the world by storm in 2016, and its continuing to do so here in 2018. Admittedly, the game has grown in many significant ways since its launch, with two of the biggest changes being modes you can play in, and characters you can play with. And many have wondered and guess as to what character gets played the most.

This goes especially for Competitive Mode, where players fight for true honor, glory, and superiority. The mode is in its 9th season, so, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan decided to reveal what character was on top for each and every tier in Competitive. The lists were compiled based on numbers received at the start of Season 09, which just started on March 1st, so keep that in mind as you read the lists.

So, who’s on top? Well, in five of the seven tiers, D.Va is the top-played character. This doesn’t ring as a surprise as she is one of the fan-favorite characters as well as a very powerful character. The only tiers she’s not in first in are Platinum and Diamond, where Moira takes over. This is slightly surprising as Moira is a more recent entry into Overwatch. It also should be noted that Moira was 2nd in most of the other tiers.

Now, as for everyone’s favorite healer Mercy, she’s in the top 3 most of the tiers save for one! She is the best healer in the game, so it makes sense that people would use her.
