Epic Games Addresses Fortnite Aiming Issue
Bugs and glitches are a key part of the game design process. If you somehow make a game without any bugs or glitches, you’ve either made the simplest game ever, or you’re a magician. Even the biggest video game developers like Epic Games have bugs and glitches that they couldn’t predict or plan for. Such is the case right now in Fortnite. For on Reddit, a player noted that while being perfectly still, the gun they were using had a bloom on it, even though it shouldn’t have it at all.
For those who don’t know, a “bloom” is a measurement in the game that affects accuracy based on movement, so if a player is standing still, it shouldn’t be there. Thankfully, Epic Games replied and agreed that this was a problem, and that it will be fixed:
Thanks for posting this. There were three separate issues that (when combined) cause this to happen. I just checked in a fix and it should no longer happen after the next update. Sorry about that.
If you’re curious as to what specifically happened to cause such an issue, then think about it no more, as Epic also revealed a more detailed log explaining what happened to cause this issue:
“1) It is supposed to have first-shot accuracy when aiming. That value was not set correctly (this is the biggest issue). So now it will be enabled.
2) The accuracy reticle UI does not match the actual accuracy of the gun (it shows slightly more accurate). This will be adjusted to match.
3) Because of the last issue, the aiming accuracy value was set to lower than it should’ve been. So aiming will also be more accurate in the cases where you don’t have first-shot accuracy.”
As for what happens now, Epic Games is working on a complete fix for this. However, it will not come via a hotfix, as some of these need to have a more detailed fix before being put into the game. So, you should expect this to be fixed by the next official update. There is no date for this at this time.
