It was recently reported that Denuvo anti-tamper tech was going to be used in Final Fantasy XV. However, just a day later, and a few days prior to its launch on PC, it has already been cracked.
This was done by 3DM, a Chinese group who used a demo executable file which doesn’t contain the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. To be fair the Denuvo, this wouldn’t have been able to be executed if not for Origin, which unlike Steam, has made an unencrypted version of the entire game available for pre-loading.
Reports suggest that there are little issues in the first three chapters, with others being able to get to chapter nine without a hitch. What’s more, the size of the game is around 150GB when put with the HD 4K Resolution Textures, so it isn’t the best news in the world. It will however give an opportunity to see if the Denuvo-free version is able to run better than the version that will be available at launch. At least the open-world game will finally be arriving on PC, which will no doubt be able to shine on a modern day platform, it just depends how much of an effect it has with Denuvo.
Meanwhile Final Fantasy XV is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
