Final Fantasy XV Advertised For Nintendo Switch?
Square Enix was hoping that their latest entry in the Final Fantasy franchise was going to be a hit, and it was in every sense of the word. It debuted on Xbox One and PS4 in 2016, where it became the fastest-selling game in the history of the series. And in just a few days, Final Fantasy XV will arrive for PC. Yet, there is another system that the beloved RPG could come to, and its one that has been rumored for a long time…the Nintendo Switch.
These rumors started when Tetsuya Nomura stated that the Final Fantasy XV team were in love with the Switch, and would love to make something for it. This was bolstered by Square Enix as a whole pledging a lot of support, via many game releases, to the Switch. Then, rumors started to swirl that XV would come to Switch, then it wouldn’t, then it was the Pocket Edition, then was it wasn’t, and now we aren’t sure where it stands.
However, an advertisement on Gamespot TV showed this:
Now, this is hardly definitive proof…however, they had to make that text banner at the bottom. And while it is possible it’s a simple mistake…you have to wonder what they were thinking when they typed it up. Because the game had never been on Switch before, so what would make them think this one was if they didn’t know it was going to be?
Again, it’s hardly proof either way, this is very much a “wait and see” scenario. The Final Fantasy XV team has said they are in talks with Nintendo to make something happen, but as to what, it’s very unclear. What’s more, they admitted that they did try and put XV on the Switch (for test purposes) to see if the Luminous engine would work on it…it didn’t. Meaning, that there would have to be modifications to make it work. However, that is what happened to the PC version of the game, and it’s about to release.
This will definitely add fuel to the fire either way.
