Kingdom Come: Deliverance Dev Explains Massive Patches
One of the benefits of the modern age of gaming is that developers can deliver patches to its games through downloads and can thus fix major errors, glitches, balancing issues, etc. However, this has also caused some trends that players haven’t been found of. Mainly, “Day One Patches”, where devs release massive patches on the games release to fix many issues. For Kingdom Come: Deliverance, however, the game has had many massive patches since its release, and players are very curious as to why that is.
For example, the Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s Day One patch was a whopping 23 GB in size, and another one is set to arrive soon that will be about the same size. Many have noted that one of the biggest challenges in the game is working around the bugs and glitches in the title.
On Reset Era, Martin Klima, Executive Producer at Warhorse, released a statement about the game and why these patches are the way they are.
The production realities of game development mean that a ‘release’ version has to be finalized some time before the actual release date. We could have used this time to get some rest, or we could use it to create some additional content and sell it to you as DLC, but we went back to the version-to-be-released and worked on it.
He goes on to note that everything in the game is going to get better these patches, which will include even just downloading the patches, as some have had issues doing so. The team at Deep Silver state that they’ve been working hard the last four years to make the title something special, and these patches are going to help really bring out the true vision of the game.
So while it may not be fun downloading these patches, it will likely be worth it in the end.
