SteamWorld Dig 2 is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch next week, as well as other releases on several platforms. If like me, you first experienced the original game on Nintendo 3DS, then you’ll be excited to hear that the highly anticipated sequel will also be coming to the Nintendo handheld console.
Brjann Sigurgeirsson, CEO of Image & Form Games, has shared information on why they have decided to bring Dig 2 to 3DS:
“In the last six months, we here at Image & Form have been busier than ever. SteamWorld Dig 2 launched on multiple platforms to great fanfare. Just recently we brought both the original Dig and the ultimate edition of SteamWorld Heist to Nintendo Switch. But we’ve kept quiet on purpose about one platform… because it’s very special to us. It’s the hardware that put us on the map with the original game, and now that we’ve come full circle, we couldn’t be more proud.”
SteamWorld Dig 2 is set to launch on Nintendo 3DS next week on February 22nd. The first game seemed very suited to that particular platform, so it seems only natural to see its sequel following suit. Having also experienced the game on a home console, it felt far better suited to the 3DS in my opinion. Time will tell if SteamWorld Dig 2 will continue this trend going forward.
