God Of War Director Answers Key Questions
The original God Of War saga was one that was built upon something very simple. It was about a man named Kratos who was trying to get revenge for the loss of his family via a trick/curse by the Greek God known as Ares. Over the course of several games, Kratos killed nearly every god on Olympus, and then some. His story seemed to be over. That is, until Santa Monica Studios revealed that a fourth core title would be coming to PS4, and this one would be very different from all the others.
This time, Kratos isn’t a blood-thirsty warrior. He’s a father, and a man that is seeking to honor the wishes of a recently deceased wife. To do so, he must go to a realm filled with Norse gods. A recent trailer for the game has gotten many gamers asking questions. So, Creative Director Cory Balrog did an interview to answer as many as he could.
First off, the new story trailer apparently didn’t give much of the story away at all. Balrog likes to keep things secretive so that players don’t have many pre-conceived notions. Furthermore, the game is long, but the team worked hard to not make it repetitive. What’s more, the length of the game was an “accident”. It apparently just happened by the time the game was done.
This new realm in God Of War is going to be massive, and will in fact be much larger than the previous games. He suggests exploring to see what you find.
As for what comes next, Balrog notes that the story here does set up an arc, one that could be played out in the next game should it be allowed. He personally won’t be Creative Director for that one, but he’ll be nearby in development.
God Of War arrives on PS4, and PlayStation Network, on April 20th.
