After a number of delays, we now know that the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be happening at the end of this year. In a recent statement on the official website, Rockstar revealed:
We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th, 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.
With thanks,
Rockstar Games
It will be a tad disappointing for some that the game won’t be released in Spring as planned, but still, it is bound to be worth the wait. The next entry in the critically acclaimed western action game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, though there is no details on whether or not there will be a release on PC at any point in the future. In the meantime, check out these screenshots provided by Rockstar:
From what we have heard so far, RDR 2 will be in a prequel setting, showing the origins of Duke’s gang, which had a prominent presence in the previous game. We may also see a glimpse of a young John Marston, the protagonist from the last outing. We are bound to hear plenty more in the near future, now that we have a date to work towards.
In the meantime, Red Dead Redemption is backwards compatible on Xbox One, if you want to relive a few glory days beforehand.
