To the delight of many, the Sea of Thieves closed beta arrived recently, giving players a chance to experience the upcoming seafaring adventure. However, those who have attempted to pre-purchase the first-person open-world pirate game were unable to gain access, with an error greeting them on screen stating “you’re too early.” A temporary fix was rolled out by Rare, whilst they worked on a more permanent solution, and to compensate those who missed out, the beta has been extended by two days.
The beta was originally set to come to an end on Monday, though the extension now means that players can enjoy the game for an extra two days, with the beta finishing on Wednesday, January 31st, at 8am GMT. Should you still be struggling to gain access to the beta, then thankfully Rare has posted some instructions on how to install it, so head over to the Xbox Insider Hub for more information.
From my own personal experience, I have been able to gain access with no issues thankfully. It does present a very exciting prospect for those looking for a pirate game fix. This might seem like a very obvious statement, but it does offer many authentic features for you to sink your teeth into. If you won’t be participating in the beta, then you won’t have to wait all that much longer to set sail, with the game set for release on March 20th. In the meantime, I would strongly recommend checking it out before Wednesday, get familiar with setting your sails and raising the anchor, and heading out on the short but sweet adventure that is on offer to you.
Sea of Thieves is set for release on Xbox One and Windows 10 on March 20th.
