Independent Swedish developer Fatshark has revealed today that BAFTA award-winning Danish composer Jesper Kyd will be making a return to compose an original soundtrack for the highly anticipated sequel Warhammer: Vermintide 2. Based on the Games Workshop Warhammer Fantasy Battles World, the sequel brings a new dark and bloody Norse tribe known as Chaos, who will serve as an enemy faction when the game arrives on PC and consoles in early 2018.
Jesper Kyd’s original score for Vermintide 2 is inspired by Norse mythology, which looks into ancient tribal music, as well as dark magic fantasy elements, whilst also including the same raw acoustic soundscape that was featured in the first Vermintide game. Here, Kyd offers us an insight into his Scandanavian roots, with a unique mix of Viking and Norse-inspired vocals, plus what’s described as “ritualistic percussion styles” and also features instruments that have been custom-made for Vermintide 2, which is bound to create a really unique soundtrack.
