Disney Patches Original Star Wars Battlefront II
Long before EA and DICE got their hands on the Battlefront franchise, the team at Pandemic birthed the franchise with two amazing games set in the Star Wars universe that we had honestly never seen before. For now, we weren’t just playing as certain characters in the universe, we were playing the battles that helped define the universe. Both games were magnificent in what they did, but Star Wars Battlefront II pushed the envelope in many ways, and did things that affected the reboots you now play.
Despite being launched in 2005, Star Wars Battlefront II is still a well-loved game. So much so that the game was revived and put on Steam and GOG for people to play the online multiplayer on. But interestingly enough, Disney has seen fit to keep the game updated, for on Steam, they made a post detailing some improvements to the game that have been patched in.
“Minor bug fixes and optimized performance, the most important fixes are:
Lobby functionality has been improved
Steam usernames should now display correctly
Ping calculations are more accurate”
Kind of random? Sure! But who cares? It’s actually really cool. And it shows that Disney knows that people still play the original game, so why not support it?
Star Wars Battlefront II did a lot of things to expand upon the original. For example, not only did it add multiplayer, it expanded the story to encompass the entire Star Wars saga (at the time). For now, you were just playing in the original trilogy timeline, you were also battling in the Clone Wars. As if that wasn’t enough, there was also a story campaign that detailed the exploits of the 501st Legion, known as Vader’s Fist, from their time in the Clone Wars to the fall of the Empire.
So yeah, if you’ve been playing the game, or want to play it again, check it out now.
