LawBreakers publisher Nexon has revealed that the game has been suffering quite badly lately, with earnings in the third quarter taking a massive hit due to low sales.
Nexon’s Q3 earnings report sees the publisher revealing that the Lawbreakers situation in terms of game sales is looking bleak, before revealing how it has affected the remaining results for Q3. Nexon stated that the results in North America were below their outlook in the third quarter, which was down to the sales of the game being below their own personal expectations.
Nexon cites the launch window as a potential catalyst as to why there has been issues for the game, pointing out the release of the immensely popular PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as an issue for their release window: “We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for Lawbreakers.”
Also, Nexon will not be accruing any more impairment losses on Lawbreakers, meaning that they have essentially written it off. This means that the game could either be sold, or abandoned completely.
