Assassin’s Creed Origins Helping Ubisoft Sales In A Big Way
There is such thing as “franchise fatigue” in video games. For while you can have one of the most popular franchises on the market, if you fail to make it fresh and new and fun with each new iteration, players will get tired of it eventually. This is what happened to the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Its first few titles were amazing, but then the quality slowly waned from it, until Ubisoft decided to take a step back and make the next game fresh. It was a good decision, as Assassin’s Creed Origins helped breath new life back into the franchise.
Set in Ancient Egypt, Assassin’s Creed Origins tells the story of the original assassin, the one who set up the order in order to save the world. But more than that, the game really opened up the world for players to explore. There were plenty of sidequests and missions to do, and enemies to fight.
The game sold incredibly well upon its release, but, as The National reveals, its sales are greater than you realize.
According to them, Origins has sold very well during the Christmas season, which they predict will raise the stock of Ubisoft even higher. The company has done very well this year, with games like Ghost Recon Wildlands, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a new year of content for Rainbow Six Siege, and of course, Assassin’s Creed Origins, among others.
Origins itself is said to be in the top 3 of sales in the Christmas period, which is very impressive given that it was released in October. However, given how not everyone can buy a game on the first day of its release, it’s very possible that many asked for it for Christmas or another holiday season.
Either way, it’s a big success for Ubisoft, and let’s hope the next Assassin’s Creed game gets just as much love and care.
