Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom Shows Off Kingdom Building

The original Ni No Kuni was a very fun and visually stunning title from Level-5. It invoked the animation style of Studio Ghibli to tell a tale of loss and wonder, all the while having a fun combat system that challenged players in unique ways. Now, with the sequel, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, things are going to be even grander. Both in the story, one of a king building, losing, and then trying to save his kingdom, but also, in the gameplay.

For in a fun twist, Level-5 is making it so that you not only are ruling, and saving, a kingdom in the game, but also, you’re building it. That’s right, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom lets you build the Revenant Kingdom, as you’ll construct it in a way that you deem worthy. Then you’ll actually get to recruit people to help you in your cause.

While not the most detailed video, it does show off the depth that your kingdom building will take. For you will start with a barren land, and then have the chance to build it up until it is a kingdom you can be proud of. The pulled back camera will no doubt help you place everything in the way you want it.

It’s unknown at present just how much customization you will have, but, given Level-5’s desire to make something truly special, and the other games that do similar features, it could be quite large. It just depends on how far Level-5 wants to go with it all.

This could be one of the reasons why the game has been delayed so many times. For the game was supposed to come out in January, and yet, now it’s been pushed back to March 23rd. But when it does come out, we think it’s going to be special.
