PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds On Xbox Has Many Flaws
Video games at one time were made in full before release. If there were bugs in them? Or serious flaws that prevented gameplay from progressing? Too bad. Couldn’t be helped. But now, with the power of the internet, developers have learned to bring patches into the games to fix issues. Also, they’ve gotten creative in how they develop the games. They’re able to make “early access” builds for players to play, so that certain bugs and issues can be resolved with their help. Many games have done this, including, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
In fact, you could argue that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the most popular game to come from this. As it got 20 million buys on Steam before it made its full release last week. Then, nearly two weeks ago, they released it on Xbox One, also in early access form. And, that’s not exactly sitting well with players. Note, they weren’t blindsided by this, but rather, some flaws are sticking out like a sore thumb.
As Windows Central details, there’s four major things holding the game back, especially when compared to the PC version of the game.
First up is frame rate issues via optimization. The game constantly has drops that can’t be controlled or modified. This can make the game unplayable at times. Bluehole tried to make it 60 FPS, but it just wasn’t possible, but now, it’s not even doing 30.
A logical issue that has popped up is the control scheme. This isn’t your typical shooter, and it was born on PC, so moving it to the Xbox Controller has caused issues.
A largely known one is the network issues, which has been causing players problems since the launch of the early access version.
Finally, content. Despite it being similar to the PC Early Access version, there’s a lot that the Xbox One verison of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds doesn’t have. Including the newest map Miramar.
Hopefully, the version does get updated so these bugs are fixed soon.
