Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets Opening Cinematic Trailer

There have been a lot of games that have represented the immensely popular world of Dragon Ball. There have been basic straight-up fighting games, like the Budokai series. Then, there has been more deep, story-driven titles, like Xenoverse and Xenoverse 2. But as great as they were, and they were great, few truly felt like they were Dragon Ball. They looked the part in a way, and they played the part in a way, but the full immersion was missing. But now, we may have that full immersion via Dragon Ball FighterZ.

For in this game, not only are the three animes of Dragon Ball represented (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super), but the game truly looks and feels like an anime. Attacks are intense and fast, and when certain things are queued up, the game goes into full cinematic flair, it’s a wonder to behold.

If you don’t believe us, watch the cinematic trailer that opens up the game. You’ll see exactly what we mean, and get a sense of just how grand the game actually is.

If you don’t recognize that pink-haired glasses-wearing woman, that’s Android 21. A character created specifically for Dragon Ball FighterZ by series creator Akira Toriyama. She’ll play a major part in the game’s storyline, all the while tying back into one of the fan-favorite arcs of Dragon Ball, the Android Saga.

There’s a lot to look forward to in the game, as characters from all three major animes (we don’t count GT!) are here, including classics like Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu (two different forms), and even lesser characters like Nappa, Tien, Captain Ginyu, and more.

No matter what way you look at it, this game is highly anticipated by a lot of people, and not just Dragon Ball loyalists either. This title is made by Arc Systems, the team behind Guilty Gear, so you can expect an intense fighting experience when the game arrives on January 26th.
