There has been quite a lot of Outlast news coming to the surface lately. A recent post on Facebook discussed plans regarding VR, DLC and another new sequel. On the DLC front, it appears that there won’t be any coming for Outlast 2, with a port to Nintendo Switch next year seemingly being the last that Red Barrels will have to do with it.
The post states: “About the future, many of you have been requesting a DLC. While the first Outlast was made with the idea of a DLC in mind, that was not the case for Outlast 2. We’ve considered many options, but none of them felt appropriate for a DLC. Outlast 2 was created to make you feel like a rat in a maze, without any knowledge of what’s outside the maze.”
It might not be the best news for some fans, but there’s hope coming, as the post continues to state that Outlast 3 will be made down the line, where “answers will be given.”
Not only that, but there will also be another game that will be set in the Outlast universe, though it won’t serve as a sequel: . “Currently we’re working on something a lot of you have been asking for… It won’t be a sequel to Outlast or Outlast 2, but it will be a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe.”
That’s as much as we know about that particular project so far, but we are bound to hear more once it gets off the ground. Many have speculated that it could be VR-related, but it’s a wait and see situation for the time being.
