Yooka-Laylee Gets Nintendo Switch Release Date
When the Nintendo 64 came out, it may not have been the most powerful system on the market, but it did have some of the most legendary games ever made. Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Smash Bros., etc. But a duo of games that fans loved from 3rd Party developers was Banjo-Kazooie by Rare. The games were fun, and unique, and players wanted more. Well, Rare was bought up by Microsoft, and the next Banjo-Kazooie title…well, let’s not talk about it. But, hope was reborn when some Rare members made their own studio, and tried to recapture the magic of the games in a title called Yooka-Laylee.
Anyone who knows the series knows what it’s all about, it’s about two very different beings working together to beat up monsters and collect a lot of items. Playtonic worked very hard to bring the game to life, even getting the bulk of it funded on Kickstarter. Since then, it’s come out on numerous platforms, and now, we know the final platforms release date.
Nintendo was supposed to get Yooka-Laylee on the Wii U, but, with the failure of the system and the rise of the Nintendo Switch, the team decided to pull a…Switch…and put it on the newer system. We’re pretty sure people will be happy with that. As for why this version is so late, there were a few issues, and the team wanted to put in all the fixes and updates it could into the game.
And apparently, that was a good choice, for the Playtonic team have said that this is the best version of the game because of these optimizations. Plus, the achievement system will be here, you can play in Docked or Handheld mode, and you can even play the game with just one Joy-Con.
Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch arrives on December 14th.
