World Of Warcraft To Ditch Raid Class Sets
World of Warcraft is going to be going through some big changes in the next year or so. For not only are there going to be servers that are dedicated to the “classic” style of the MMORPG (I.E. the literal beginning of the game), but also, there’s going to be a new expansion coming soon called Battle For Azeroth. With this expansion comes new classes to be, new places to go, and a reborn war between the Alliance and the Horde. And yet, that still only seems to be the beginning of the changes.
For in a recently released interview with Blizzard via GameInformer, the company is doing away with a traditional part of the gameplay: Raid Class Sets. While it may sound odd at first, there is clear intent with doing so. For in the eyes of Blizzard, these sets have become very restrictive, to the extent that they actually limit what the player can use as time goes on.
“[Now,] it’s very common to get 2 or 4 pieces at the start of a tier and it actually kind of locks down those character slots, it limits your choices,” said World of Warcraft game director Ion Hazzikostas.
So, what’s their solution? A brand new system called the Azerite system, this new feature will allow players to boost their characters abilities and thus allow them to tailor their gear to what they can do and not vice versa. What’s more, new sets of armor will not only be better function wise but also be more artistic. In that, they will look more like items found in the areas they were found in.
The proof, as they say, will be in the pudding though, for fans will not hesitate to be vocal if this goes wrong. However, it’s admirable that Blizzard is trying to do right by players.
