Developers Bluehole has announced that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be getting a physical release on Xbox One. The game is currently in Early Access on PC, with an Xbox One console version expected to be released in the game preview program by the end of 2017.
So far, PUBG has managed to thrive even in such an early stage. So far, it has sold over 13 million copies, with over 2.2 million concurrent players being attracted to the game so far. These statistics have been out the likes of Dota 2, League of Legends and Overwatch in different areas of statistics, further emphasizing how popular the game is at the moment.
With many players choosing to purchase physical over digital where console games are concerned, it’s understandable to see why they would release a physical version. It hasn’t been revealed whether there will be a physical version on PC or not, but with digital sales dominating the PC platform, it’s likely that it will remain digital only.
Despite the efforts from similar games such as Fortnite, which is rising to popularity in its own right, PUBG’s own fame continues to skyrocket, and it is only set to get higher with an Xbox One release soon.
