A “legacy” World of Warcraft server has been dissolved by a system admin over allegations of corrupt behavior from members of staff. The admin, known as WhiteKidney, has formed a coup with other admins in the form of LightsHope, which will hopefully see the return of The Elysium Project, which has been shut down over the matter.
According to reports, two admins have been selling gold to gold sellers, as well as accessing the project’s PayPal accounts. A recent statement from the newly formed LightsHope states: “The Elysium Project as it exists today is no longer a viable project due to the systemic problem of lack of oversight on those with the most access to the servers. Due to failures to uphold the projects ideals and integrity, the Elysium Project is being dissolved and relaunched out of the control of those who have abused the trust of the staff, community, and legacy movement as a whole.”
This isn’t the first time that a vanilla server for World of Warcraft has been shut down, after Blizzard shut down Nostalrius back in 2016, which led up to the formation of The Elysium Project. Other members who have been involved with these actions have said to have stepped down indefinitely.
