World of Warcraft has issued several bans for players who have been caught using third-party software. The bans that are being put in place will last for six months, meaning that accounts will be locked until April last year.
As for what the forbidden techniques entail, these bans have been introduced for players using third-party tools which range from using bots for farming, instant teleportation tools to navigated around the map at the blink of an eye, and combat rotation scripts.
The email which was sent by Blizzard states the following: “These programs (commonly called cheats, bots, or hacks) automate certain aspects of gameplay, or provide unintended advantages and abilities to the player. This type of cheating undermines other players’ experience and severely upsets the balance of the game environment. We don’t take this decision lightly. Our team issued this suspension only after a careful review of relevant evidence. Our support staff will not overturn this penalty and may not respond to appeals.”
The email signs off in the hopes that players who have been banned understand why they have done so. If this has happened to you, then Blizard are willing to listen to certain appeals, though as they stated above, they will not be overturning any bans that have been put in place, so it’s worth keeping in mind going forward.
