Killer Instinct, the revived fighting franchise that relaunched back in 2013 with the release of the Xbox One, is set to become the first 4K console fighting game.
At launch, Killer Instinct ran at just 720p on Xbox One, prompting developers to achieve much more with the Xbox One X version. This objective would see taking a 900p game and running it at native 4K, which will be achieved by implementing a simple patch to bring 4K resolution and a boost in texture filtering.
Killer Instinct isn’t short on content, with a massive roster following the Season Three expansion, so it gives an additional reason for players to perhaps revisit the game if they aren’t playing it at this time already. After all, on paper it is the best looking fighting game possible using an ultra HD display, rivaled by no other series in the genre.
Not to say that it isn’t exciting to see what other games will look like when they hit the Xbox One X. With the likes of Injustice 2, Tekken 7 and others getting the same treatment, there is going to be some high quality looking fights going on in the future. For now though, Killer Instinct is a great game to fly the flag for the vast improvements.
