Firewatch was arguably one of the biggest indie games to release at its time, and now the game’s designer Nels Anderson has announced that he will be starting up his own studio entitled Caledonia.
The designer has stated that his intentions for doing so are to “make a sweet video game,” and we are surely hoping that it will be as good as Firewatch. The announcement came via Twitter, with his tweet reading: “Ok, things are real enough to say I’ve started a cool team of people to make a sweet video game.”
Nels Anderson was one of the first developers at Campo Santo when Firewatch was created, though his career started long before, being the lead designer on Klei Entertainment’s stealth action game Mark of the Ninja.
At this moment in time, there are very few details revealed regarding what exactly the project is that Caledonia is working on, though we are bound to hear something in the near future. Firewatch was undoubtedly a fantastic experience, and one that many will not be forgetting anytime soon. If whatever Caledonia comes up with is anything near as the quality of the Campo Santo game, we are surely in for a treat when the project finally comes to fruition.
