Some of the most skilled and experienced Borderlands 3 developers have left Gearbox Software to pursue other projects.
I’m excited as f**k to play Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The cell-shaded and goofy esthetic mixed with fantasy, magic, and guns sounds like a dream come true. Then we got some screenshots that made me fall in love with this absurd combination of genres even more! Why am I bringing this up? Because today’s news may affect the release and quality of that game.
Some of the most experienced faces of Gearbox decided to leave in order to work on some new projects according to Axis’ report. Randy Pitchford, Gearbox Entertainment founder, says the Borderlands 3 developers left Gearbox on the “best of terms”, but that could just be PR talk.
Gearbox lost the following talent:
- Senior producer Christopher Brock
- Lead mission designer Keith Schuler
- Art director Scott Kester
- Creative director Paul Sage
- UX/Game Feel director Chris Strasz
- Lead character artist Kevin Penrod
Yet, Randy assures the fans that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands isn’t affected by this and is coming as planned. Let’s just hope that’s true. For the veterans that left, I wish them the best in their future endeavors. They’re going to be a great addition to any company they work for in the future.
