Due to some unfortunate donations to certain political figures the Five Nights at Freddy’s creator announces his early retirement.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is seemingly a very odd title. But its weird mixture of animatronic animals, intense brooding atmosphere, and heartstopping jumpscares was a success. A horror formula that uses the cheap jumpscare effect to a frighteningly efficient degree.
Alas, in today’s cancel culture-centric world, you can’t do certain things. For example, you probably shouldn’t align yourself with Trump, America’s highly controversial ex-president. But Scott Cawthon did just that and donated a bunch of money to other politicians of similar nature. It was something we wouldn’t apologize for.
The fans didn’t take kindly to these actions and the backlash was felt. Now, Scott throws in the towel and announces his retirement. Don’t worry though, Five Nights at Freddy’s creator wants us to know his beloved franchise isn’t over yet. His reign is over but Scott’s looking for someone to replace him as we speak.
What do you think of this whole situation? Are the fans right to hate his support of a conservative and oppressive political figure? Or should his personal beliefs be separated from the games he was making? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below!
