Even though BioWare couldn’t implement it right from the start, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition may get multiplayer in the future.
Mass Effect 3 is one of the rare RPGs that had a solid multiplayer component. A co-op wave mode with various objectives and a grueling finale where you had to fight tooth and claw until extraction came along. An exhilarating, challenging, and fun co-op experience that many loved.
When I covered everything you need to know about Mass Effect: Legendary Edition I mentioned the lack of multiplayer mode. BioWare just didn’t have enough resources and time to implement that as well. It’s only natural, considering the scope of the Legendary Edition.
But, the possibility exists. It’s highly unlikely, but in an interview with CNet, character and environment director Kevin Mee said there’s a chance. When asking if multiplayer getting added was an option, Kevin said:
I would never say no to that — we want to see what kind of reception the Legendary Edition gets and what the demand for the multiplayer is. And then we’ll ask ourselves if we have the resources and time to bring it up to the quality level we and fans want.
So, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition could get its multiplayer mode back. The players love the Legendary Edition, and the reception has been nothing short of incredibly positive. Yet, this kind of response doesn’t exactly give off enthusiastic energy.
