In a shocking revelation, we find out that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 loses its current dev team and is indefinitely delayed.
The sequel follows in the footsteps of the first game
The legacy continues. Remember how the first game experienced dev hell? The design’s scope overreached with no resources to support it. No producer for a year until David Mullich got the role only to find unfinished designs and levels? Well, don’t think the sequel is doing any better.
Dev Hardsuit Labs delayed Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 multiple times. Then the lead writer got fired. Now we find out Hardsuit Labs are off the project altogether. It’s not looking very good for a highly anticipated sequel that already had big shoes to fill even without development hell.
All hope is gone?
Some stay vigilant, thinking that things can’t get worse. It’s a good way to think, but how many titles switch devs and end up being good? Judging from the gameplay trailers, Bloodlines 2 has potential. It can still be an amazing dark RPG with rich characters, a compelling story, and nonlinear gameplay with an emphasis on player freedom.
So Bloodlines 2 loses its dev team. But, why don’t we know who’s taking over the project next? Secrecy isn’t welcome in these situations. If we don’t get any good news regarding this title in 2021, faith in Bloodlines 2 dies off completely.
Oh, they also removed the ability to pre-order the game since it’s delayed indefinitely.
