Octopath Traveler PC Release Date Leaked?

The Nintendo Switch exclusive, Octopath Traveler, got a release date for its PC version announced in a now-deleted blog post.

These sorts of announcements happen often. Someone publishes something earlier than intended, and then they quickly have to take it down before anyone sees it. Unfortunately for them, gaming journalists are swift and efficient, so then the thing that was supposed to be covered up gets exposed even more. That’s why we thing developers and publishers do these things on purpose to get some exposure for their game.

Is that the case with the PC release date for Octopath Traveler? Maybe, maybe not, but we’re just happy that this title is “probably” coming to the PC. A Gematsu article pointed this out, as it seems they were one of the few that managed to read the blog before it got taken down.

Now, as far as the game itself is concerned, it is a JRPG with stunning graphics which combine both 2D and 3D imagery. The story is plentyful, even though it isn’t anything amazing as the characters in the game are quite bland and cheesy. Combat is quite interesting for a turn-based game, and the soundtrack is absolutely stellar, maybe even the best thing about the game. We’ve gotten quite a few good JRPGs on the PC in the last few years, Ni No Kuni II being one of them, and more is always welcome.

We just have to wait now until Square Enix decides to officially announce the release date again. Hopefully, then they’re going to leave the announcement up and not delete it later this time.
