Monolith Soft Working On Next Legend Of Zelda Game?
It’s a very interesting time to be a Legend of Zelda fan. Breath of the Wild is still one of the best-selling Nintendo Switch titles on the market, and is still considered one of the best games on the system. Then, we recently got a reveal of a remastering of swords for the GBA classic Link’s Awakening. And during a Nindies Showcase, we found out about a beat-themed game called Cadence of Hyrule. As if all of that wasn’t enough, it appears Monolith Soft is preparing for their own work on a Zelda title.
For the record, this isn’t too much out of the ordinary. As Monolith Soft actually worked with Nintendo in a big way on Breath of the Wild. They helped with graphical details and level design. And at one point, they had 100 people working for the main Nintendo company to help make the game.
On a recruitment site by Monolith, they not only blast the Tri-Force logo, but also seek to find “technical artists, programmers, planners, designers, and a project manager.”
So it seems like the dev are working on something pretty big to need this many people. And so this will no doubt drive up speculation that they’re working on the next mainline Legend of Zelda title. Which has been rumored to be starting up by Aonuma and crew.
Of course, the big question is how are they going to top the beauty and majesty that was Breath of the Wild? It’s unclear, but, if they’re bringing in Monolith Soft to help them, that means they’re needing extra people, and they want someone who they know they can work with and get great results.
Even with this tease though, it’s unlikely we’ll get definitive answers for some time. It took YEARS for Breath of the Wild to even be shown. So for now, all we can do is speculate on what’s to come.
