New Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Video Explains Natural Disasters And Future Era
A brand new Civilization VI: Gathering Storm video shows us the power of natural disasters and what the Future Era brings.
Naturally, you want to avoid building your settlements next to a volcano, especially when Civilization VI: Gathering Storm arrives. If it erupts, well, you know what happens when a volcano erupts and there’s a city nearby. But, the land near volcanoes is also very fertile. It seems that while some natural disasters have only negative sides (grassland tornadoes), others may have some benefits. If you’re playing as Russia, a blizzard is more of a blessing than a curse. All of this was showcased in the latest video which you should definitely check out.
Fuel and Material are your new strategic resources. They will be really important once you enter the Industrial Era. Each building in the Industiral and beyond era needs power. Unpowered buildings are half-efficient, and so are the units that require these resources.
But, this also means that some of these fuel types release carbon dioxide into the air. Global warming is a real threat, and in Civilization VI: Gathering Storm, if the global temperatures increase immensely, you’re going to deal with devastating climate changes that can wreck your cities pretty badly.
But, you can just build and maintain nuclear plants. Their emission levels are quite low, and you just need to keep them in working order. You can maintain them regularly in-game. And you should, because if you don’t, an accident can occur. Accidents in a nuclear power plant will be quite destructive, so try to avoid those scenarios.
The Future Era allows you to manipulate other civs through the use of the World Congress, and the 21-st century Technology and Civics trees are randomized. Futuristic technology can help you with global temperatures, new units and options, and so on.
We’re quite excited for this expansion, as it seems to be bringing a lot of complexion to the base game. The only question is, will the AI be updated to deal with all these new mechanics?
