Is A Nintendo Direct Coming This Month?
Every new year is a reset button for the big game publishers. For every new year brings the chance for new hit titles, new surprises to come, and for publishers to hear from the fans to see what they want, and see if they can deliver it to them. For Nintendo, 2018 was a very solid year. It ended very strongly with titles like Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, and of course, Super Smash Bros Ultimate. And now, rumors are already swirling that a Nintendo Direct is going to be coming very soon.
Specifically, on January 10th, for a “source” told GamingIntel:
“I was told January 10th from one source. This hasn’t been cross checked between sources. Most of my other sources are still undecided on an exact date, but are certain of a Nintendo January Direct.”
While it’s never wise to trust a single source when it comes to gaming news (that isn’t the publisher or developer), there have been many rumors about a January Nintendo Direct.
Now, if this is true and we’re getting a Direct, Nintendo will likely use this opportunity to try and show off what the Nintendo Switch will be having in 2019. We know about games like Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Yoshi’s Crafted World, and a few others, but the slate is still pretty clean in terms of release dates.
Fans of course are going to want more information on Metroid Prime 4, as well as any teasers about the Pokemon core RPG that is promised for this year. Fire Emblem fans want another trailer for Three Houses, and many want a surprise announcement or two.
Given NIntendo’s track record with these Directs, we likely won’t know for sure if it’s real or not until a few days before the 10th.
