New Harvest Moon Announcements Coming?
Sometimes, video games provide players with the most simple, yet enjoyable, experiences that they can get, and through that, they enjoy playing some of the more casual titles. Harvest Moon is a game about farming and taking care of animals more than anything else. It’s an RPG still, but nothing of the “grand scale” of titles like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. And yet, gamers have loved the series, and yet, according to Natsume president and CEO Hiro Maekawa, the series has never been better in the eyes of fans.
He said this in a message to the Harvest Moon faithful, where he revealed that the latest entry, “Light Of Hope” did incredibly well in its multi-platform release:
We released our latest entry in the Harvest Moon franchise, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition in May for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The title performed well beyond our forecast and even set new sales record with the number of both physical and digital combined. In addition, we released the mobile version for iPhone and Android in September. Both releases are also performing very well.
That’s impressive, as this was the first true multi-platform release for the Harvest Moon franchise. It goes to show that sometimes everyone wants a piece of the relaxing game action…so to speak.
Maekawa thanked fans for their support, as well as teased what’s next for the company:
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the fans for their continued support. We are currently working on several new titles that will be announced in the near future, to continue to please our worldwide fans in 2019 and beyond.
“Near future” sounds like we could be getting an announcement any day. And you can bet that with the success of the Nintendo Switch, that those titles will definitely be on there. But, you likely can expect PS4 support too, as Light of Hope also released there.
