If you have been playing Fortnite over the last 24 hours, you’ll have noticed something a little…odd. Mainly, just after playing a game on the regular island map, you’ll have exited the game into the main menu, and the moment you return to the island…it’s now covered in snow. Like, all snow, as if a snowstorm had come to the island in a blink of an eye and now there’s snow as far as the eye can see, that kind of thing. Don’t panic though, you’re not alone in seeing this.
This happened on Christmas Day, likely to celebrate the holiday and get everyone excited about a new “twist” on gameplay per se, and to help you see snow even if you didn’t have it on the big holiday.
But what made this Fortnite twist so special was that the team didn’t mention this transition, nor is it a part of a “big event”, it’s just there, and that’s thrown a few people for a loop.
No, like, seriously, people are tripping out about this:
What the hell Epic?! I just won a match and then I went to the lobby and then queued up for another match. As I was on the battle bus the whole MAP!! WAS COVERED IN SNOW!?? Is this a glitch? There was no information of when this would happen! TELL ME WHAT IS HAPPENING
Others though just accepted what was going on, and enjoyed the winter wonderland as it were. It likely doesn’t affect the gameplay too much outside of having to deal with a light of white in the screens. And this is hardly the first winter-themed item that Epic Games has done with Fortnite this month. But it is nice to know that they can still surprise players, although next time, they should at least give a little warning.
