Minecraft Gets Final Update For Certain Versions/Consoles
Minecraft is by and large one of the most popular games in the current era of gaming. Some might even say that it’s one of the most popular games in gaming history. The freedom to build what you want, and explore the world how you want has been a joy for many. But also, the title has succeeded because it has come to every single platform of gaming imaginable. However, Mojang has announced that three of the systems that have the game aren’t getting any more updates.
To be clear, you’ll still be able to play the games like you want to, they just won’t be getting any more updates or patches. The team made the announcement on Twitter by saying:
As we pack up our Xbox 360, PS3, PSVita and WiiU development kits, we’re getting all nostalgic. Please share some of your best memories over the past six and a half years of Minecraft on these consoles!
That being said, just before they pulled the plug on future updates, they gave the systems one last horrah:
The final update for Minecraft Console Editions on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and Wii U will be out today/tomorrow, adding The Nightmare Before Christmas Mash-up Pack.
Thank you to all the players on these editions for your support over the years 🙂
So at the very least, you’ll be up to date on everything that happened this year for the game, and that will be enough for now. Many Twitter followers saw the announcement and made their goodbyes:
All the memories from those years ago, all the friends I met because of this awesome game by an awesome team
Here’s another:
thank you so much for making an amazing version of Minecraft and keeping it updated all these years! 🙂
