The brilliant deckbuilding roguelike, Slay the Spire, is getting its final act in an update that’s coming next week.
Slay the Spire is definitely one of the best games that combines roguelike elements with card building. There are actually many titles that do exactly that, but this one managed to nail that sweet spot of being complex, easy to understand, giving you lots of freedom, but also punishing you if you don’t know what you’re trying to do with your deck. It’s incredibly engaging, really addictive once you get the hang of things, and has immense replayability.
Slay the Spire is still in Early Access, yet it has more content and polish than many other games out there. Now, after a stream of regular updates and balance patches, the game is getting its fourth and final act. By now you could go through three acts, each with one of several bosses at the end. But it never had a finish or a conclusion. That’s exactly what we’re getting next week.
Well, if you’re playing on the beta branch you already encountered the final boss. Officially, it’s coming soon to everyone, as the devs probably want to do some more balancing. We’ve been hearing that the last guy you face isn’t all that impressive, so maybe they want to beef him up a bit.
