Sequel To Breath Of The Wild In Development Now?
When it comes right down to it, one of the reasons that the Nintendo Switch did well at launch was because of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. The game was arguably the best Legend of Zelda title ever, and it helped propel the Switch to great heights. Recently, it was confirmed to have sold over 10 million units in its lifetime so far, and this has gotten fas very eager for what will be its next game. And if a job listing is to be believed, that game is the works right now.
Sure, it was easy to guess that the next Zelda game was in the works, but there’s different levels of “work”. Such as planning and concept stages. The job listings, posted on Nintendo of Japan’s website (and translated by Resetera) seem to indicate that the development for the title is in deep stages. Such as starting to build the world of the game.
Here’s one of the translations for the jobs:
-The first job posting is for a 3DCG designer. They specify that it is for terrain/topography production for stuff such as the field and dungeons.
-Requirements: experience making backgrounds in Maya and Adobe Photoshop; experience working on HD hardware; Japanese fluency
-Other skills that will help your application: experience making backgrounds specifically for an action game; experience making concept art; experience making assets in Substance Painter and Substance Designer; interest in Zelda; leadership experience.
This proves that it’s a Zelda game not just because they reference Zelda in it, but they’re asking for people to help make dungeons and fields and other terrain, which are staples in the Legend of Zelda franchise.
The only real question that gamers have is, will this be a sequel to Breath of the Wild, or will it be another Zelda timeline branch? The potential for both is great, we’ll just have to see what Nintendo does.
