The Hinterland team recently released the first two episodes of The Long Dark, and after thanking their supporters, they welcomed them to Episode One and Episode Two of WINTERMUTE. Throughout the first day of its release, developers were keeping a close eye on bug reports and forum posts to get the fixes out as fast as they could.
With that in mind, a number of fixes have been implemented to improve the experience. For starters, missing translations have been added for Trust dialogue, and startup issues for certain systems using DirectX 9 have been fixed. Books disappearing when dropped should no longer occur too, and improvements to checkpointing have been made to avoid going into a low-Condition death spiral. The Condition-restoration boost has also been buffed when a player reloads after death. A Bedroll has been added to the Cave in Chapter One, which can be used to save your game, whilst the requirement to drink Rosehip Tea in Survival Bowl has now been made an optional objective.
Several other fixes have been seen to, such as the Rifle Cleaning Kit disappearing after reloading a save, and another issue with environment geo near the Climbing Park section in Milton. Audio cuts should also now be eradicated, as well as the cutscene flickering issue when using OpenGL on Mac and Linux. Controls would previously lock when throwing a stone whilst simultaneously picking up a rabbit, which has been fixed, and the floating necklace when speaking with Grey Mother should no longer occur. Radios playing music when aurora isn’t present, scrollbar issues when transferring items and objects tinting incorrectly have all been resolved.
