PlayStation Classic Gets Full Game list Released
When Nintendo brought the NES and SNES Classics into the world, no one knew at the time just how popular they would be. And yet, both of them have sold millions, and they continue to sell for as long as Nintendo will stock them. As the only other publisher with long-standing consoles, it made sense that Sony would want to try and get in on the act in the form of the PlayStation Classic. The console was already revealed, but today, via the PlayStation Blog, the full roster of games that will be on the system were revealed.
As noted on the blog:
“Today we are happy to reveal the entire lineup of the 20 games that come pre-loaded on the console when it launches in the U.S. and Canada on December 3.”
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
That’s quite a list of games, and as fans hoped, there were some big exclusives on their from the original days of the system such as Metal Gear, Twisted Metal, Rayman, Resident Evil, and more.
Granted, with only 20 games on the PlayStation Classic, there were bound to be snubs, but given the potential limits that the memory of the system may hold, there’s no doubt that Sony had to make some hard choices about what to bring and what to leave behind.
The only real question now is whether the retro system will sell as well as Sony hopes. Nintendo fans have always been one for nostalgia, but Sony fans might be wired a different way. We’ll see when December 3rd comes around.
